I have argued in the past that innovation management needs to radically adjust and needs to be designed differently, it needs to be highly adaptive. I’d like to offer some views, partly looking out to the future, partly considering what is potentially within our grasp, if we step back and rethink innovation design.
The Internet of Things (IOT) will have a dramatic impact on product and service innovation. Firms will have to hire software engineers to design and deliver service solutions based on usage data. The post The Internet of Things brings fresh Innovation Opportunities appeared first on Destination Innovation.
Recent advances in technology put Internet-of-things (IoT)-innovation on top of the management agenda across industries. The Service Science Factory and Noventum collaborated on this article to present a state-of-the art view on the Internet of Things and how to implement this vision within organizations.
Exploring the interplay between Humans, Technology and AI for design thinking Why is design thinking regarded as so crucial to the future of innovation in a world of accelerating interplays between humans, technology and generative AI? Operating sustainably is not only good for the environment but also good for business.
I recently applied the three horizons thinking to ‘frame’ a new innovation design. So the thinking intent of searching for a new innovation design had some framing assumptions that can leverage where we are to move towards a new future. This is a useful way to think about the initial 3H outcome.

Internet of Things (IoT) : Keep tabs on and tweak operations instantly with IoT gadgets. Artificial Intelligence Foresee how things will go, jazz up customer help, and streamline stuff.
When you think we are on a roll, we are making that transformation in technology, systems, new organizational designs, you are suddenly stopped in your tracks. They make up vital business processes that were designed years ago but not for the technology onslaught of technology we are witnessing. Can we continue to battle with legacy?
Plus, checking out approaches like design thinking can make strategy sessions even more creative. If you’re curious about why new ideas are essential for strategic plotting , check out our in-depth article on the role of innovation today.
GUEST POST from Mike Shipulski If you want to have an IoT (Internet of Things) program, you’ve got to connect your products. If you want to build trust, give without getting. If you need someone with experience in manufacturing automation, hire a pro. If the engineering team wants to spend a year playing with a […]
The combination of innovation within ecosystem thinking and the design approach has ‘arrived’ capitalizing on the value points of digitalisation combining with technology, both in the Industrial IoT world and finding a growing place and pace in the Energy Transition that is having, in my view, a very different combination effect.
There are many looking to combine up their expertise into a new, more radical design that increasingly meets the customer’s needs that they, alone, could never be capable of. They are creating the design tools for platforms and by extension, ecosystems. Summary : Get to know the implications.
Design thinking: Design thinking is another methodology that is gaining traction in innovation. Internet of Things (IoT): The IoT is connecting devices and systems in real time, creating a wealth of data that can be used to inform innovation. I asked Google Gemini five questions.
Buttons & Threads: Applying a Modern Ecosystem Perspective In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the “buttons and threads” concept perhaps is a powerful metaphor for understanding and designing interconnected business ecosystems. Let me explain.
Why is design thinking regarded as so crucial to the future of innovation in a world of accelerating interplays between humans, technology and generative AI? What will be the changes or potential to leverage these three of Design Thinking, Technology and AI Generative Thinking for solving innovation challenges in the future?
What’s new with the Internet of Things? According to Natalie Drucker, Mark Collin, and Nima Monterazi, designing a master plan for a thriving digital enterprise years in advance is simply not feasible. In each post, we’ll highlight a few noteworthy pieces and explain why they’re worth reading.
We need to address this incompatibility, we need to integrate and harness the innovation management system and bring it completely up to date and integrated in design and function. This merging of cloud, big data, social, and the internet of things is becoming the new system of discovery according to some.
These commentators are correct in the sense that we are entering a time where the Internet of Things (IoT) and the data generated by billions of IoT devices will create radically new opportunities for innovation. In one sense that fact is a good thing - it means innovation takes on an entirely new life.
5G and Edge Computing The deployment of 5G networks and the growth of edge computing are expected to drive innovation in areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, and smart cities. Click Here Blog Subscrition Here Email*
There are several technologies already disrupting the likes of retail and service-based industries, designed to create connected and seamless experiences, both virtual and in-person.

On first look at this acquisition you see a 180,000 consulting firm, operating in 40 countries with nearly EUR12 billion in revenue adding a 60 to 70 people innovation and design consultancy operating in the US and less so in the UK and you wonder what simply happens with such a move. David meets and marries a Goliath.
Whether you call it Big Data, Little Data, or the Internet of Things, data remains data until it meets a business model. Providing toolkits with these models and resources for design thinking can help teams and organizations translate best practice business models into practical strategies.
Our job as designers is to communicate information. A clean design with big numbers and charts looks good, but how can we make sure people actually understand the data? The design promise: An iPhone Health app screen showing a chart of steps across a week’s time. Designing with data for real people.
Flexibility: The technology can be inconspicuously integrated into the packaging design and is suitable for nearly all existing multi-dose and single-dose blister packs. The Smart Blister Card is designed to help reduce the risks associated with polypharmacy and enhance therapeutic success.
This integration facilitates the management and optimization of supply chain activitiesfrom the initial design and development of automotive components to manufacturing, distribution, and final delivery to the customer.

Reusable packaging isn’t as much about wiz-bang technology as product design and supply chain innovation. Higher-tech drivers of industry transformation include smart labels, the internet of things, data analytics, and blockchain.
For all the hype around the Internet of Things, most people are still content to control their homes manually. But at the very least, designers should strive to excel in those that matter most for their products without sacrificing others in the process. If you’re scratching your head, you’re not alone. Findability.
Despite all of this, just 20% of digital transformation leaders are studying the mobile customer journey and/or designing for real-time micro-moments in addition to customer journey work. Are you meeting your customer needs, do you fully understand their motivations, associated behaviors to design a better range of innovation solutions?
Without a shadow of a doubt, 5G is the foundation for the Internet of Things. 3- Internet of Things – Internet of Energy. Their analytical power comes from using Big Data and Machine Learning to design the best scenarios, manage risk, and elevate decision making to the next level of efficiency.
Reaching these lofty projections over the next four years, however, will require a fundamental reorientation in the way that technologists and product designers work together to create successful “connected” personal devices and home appliance products. This evolution to “Internet of Things (IoT) 2.0”
If they get the factors right, hit the needs of customers in their design, understanding, agility in responding to learning and adapting, ability to be fast to market and capable of scaling up really fast, then they transform spaces, leaving the established players desperately struggling to find answers and catch up.
