Combining methods is one of the ways I make sure they make the most out of their innovation efforts. In this post, I’d like to talk about how designthinking complements crowdsourced innovation. Designthinking is a six-phase process that puts people in focus. The two methods are a natural fit.
Innovation Lifecycle Management (ILM) refers to the systematic process of managing the journey of an idea from inception to market release. It encompasses a series of stages, including ideation, concept development, prototyping, testing, and commercialization. For insights on this, read our piece on AI in designthinking.
Redefining Conflict Resolution: The DesignThinking Way Business conflicts have been a staple challenge since the advent of commerce. As conflicts become more nuanced, leaders seek innovative methodologies for resolution. It prioritizes empathy, collaboration, and iterative testing to reach innovative solutions.
In different exchanges over a fairly lengthy dialogue “we” arrived at: Here are some key ways it can drive transformative innovation : Accelerate Ideation and Concept Generation: Generative AI models can rapidly ideate and generate novel concepts, solutions, and prototypes across domains.
The tool and techniques that stand out for me, in their contribution, value and my use have been, in no specific order, cover the jobs-to-be-done , ten types of innovation, crossing the chasm , blue ocean, business model canvas and value proposition canvas, building core competencies , lean start-up, agile and design sprints.
In that same vein, no thinking past ideation. I often see first-time innovators bit by the crowdsourcing bug, and they come to us to scratch that itch. “I Problem is, ideation — or the simple posting of and voting on the crowd’s ideas — is only the first step. I heard about this crowdsourcing thing.
Customer co-creation is becoming more co-jointly involved in innovation , gaining insights into customers’ deeper needs and preferences. The framework proposed is vertical and horizontal, offering an innovative enterprise system architecture. I believe we need to leverage technology, concepts, and designthinking.
Regulatory Compliance: Be aware of any regulatory requirements or industry-specific standards that may apply to your AI-driven innovation projects. I do believe the principles of designthinking, agile development, ecosystem thinking and design coupled with AI integration offer a radically exciting new innovation approach.
Collaborations form the essence of discovery, relationships, innovation and new knowledge exchange. Co-creation processes : Cross-sector innovation collaborations require a co-creation process that involves active engagement and participation from all stakeholders.
Ideation: Anatomy of a New Product Idea. In the broadest sense, we’re talking about openinnovation. Which is why we’re proponents of DesignThinking (DT). The post Ideation: Anatomy of a New Product Idea appeared first on Taivara. Taivara Blog Post by Kevin Dwinnell. Getting New Product Ideas Flowing.
Experiences such as this led us to ask “If problem definition is a key component of designthinking, why don’t we prototype problems as well as solutions?” ” In fact 100%Open was already doing an analagous process with our challenge design tool the Interesting Question. Is it even soluble?
There is a great deal of focus today on the process of innovation. DesignThinking, Agile, Lean, and older frameworks like CPS (aka Osborn-Parnes) are all attempts to find the system, the process steps, that will assist in repeating innovation. Every innovation process has an ideation step.
How do you innovate across your entire value chain? How do you integrate all this new fancy stuff into strategy and ideation to create actual projects? Why is this challenge so different from previous innovation challenges? Classic innovation frameworks and IT-centric team composition are not going to get it done.
The funnel describes the main stages and gates every idea has to pass through on its way to a product, service or business model innovation. Typically, the first stage of an innovation funnel is “ideation”, the last one “market launch”. Ideation : Ideas for innovation in products, services and business models are generated.
Training, a skilled facilitator, and frequent practice are essential to effective ideation sessions and creating a broad and systemic organizational innovation culture. Teams achieve breakthrough results when properly facilitated through through a rapid, flexible, but structured process at the front end of innovation.
It is where we need to question workflows and processes, as openness has become increasingly central to our thinking and development-building process. I do believe the principles of designthinking, agile development, ecosystem thinking and design coupled with AI integration offer a radically exciting innovation ecosystem approach.
Participants in MoshPit sessions do extensive preparation, including research and ideation, alone, before the group event. This contemplative pre-ideation starts the group meeting at a more advanced stage of thinking. Teams don’t come up with breakthrough ideas in one day, this is why so many ideation sessions fail.
.” – PwC, Reinventing InnovationInnovation is a broad process encompassing many facets and objectives, but ultimately the end goal of any business initiative is to drive growth and increase monetary returns.
A clear process ensures that innovation is not a random or ad-hoc activity but a disciplined approach that can be replicated and scaled. Methodologies like Agile, Lean, or DesignThinking may be integrated into this component to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Depending on the companies’ objectives, these innovation centers are mostly autonomous, designed as corporate accelerators, incubators, Digital Labs or in a blended form. Hackathons’ or comparable formats are used to bring together external ideators with internal experts for drumming out disruptive ideas.
Innovation is one of the most popular terms used in the corporate world. It is generally viewed as a process of creative ideation, which is a combination of creative ideas and sustainably profitable business models. As described by Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google, “Innovation is more of an idea than location.”. Preparing to innovate.
Navigating Innovation Management: Implement a Scalable Process and Engaging Platform for Enterprise Ideation and Collaboration Creating OpenInnovation Solutions Regardless of your organization’s innovation portfolio size or scope, every business needs a strategy and competitive advantage for growth and technological advancement.
We have talked about the most important aspects of organizing a successful hackathon with Henrik, OpenInnovation Specialist in Be-novative on the second day of the Aegon Hackathon. Let people collaborate and ideate from different backgrounds and watch how they get inspiration from unlikely industries or places.

Things are moving too fast for 24-month stage-gate innovation project cycles. Even the magic of DesignThinking is not enough to inform you as to what projects to do and ensure success. The time for action immediately follows, and, as HBR indicates, it has to be done differently in this new environment.
Collaborations form the essence of discovery, relationships, innovation and new knowledge exchange. Co-creation processes : Cross-sector innovation collaborations require a co-creation process that involves active engagement and participation from all stakeholders.
It is far more related to designthinking than to business process management, as the former is a much more suitable approach to face and solve complex problems. This is not the moment to dive into designthinking methodologies, but we can pick some pieces of advice to learn. Find the right problem to solve.
Platform and designthinking, prototyping, ideation, project selection, and speed are imperative capabilities. It’s essential here to sharpen the future possibilities with external knowledge sharing, openinnovation, and co-creation. Source: Penker (2016) and the Eighth Global Peter Drucker Forum.

AI and automation are integral components for ideation, predictive analytics, and automation of innovation portfolio management. Openinnovation by default that manages intellectual property and value capture approaches by default. Ecosystem integration explicitly includes more up-to-date mechanisms, tools and processes.
Open Banking will bring this to the banking sector—benefitting the consumer above all others. DesignThinking is the methodology that guides our transformations. “Innovation Management is about more than just planning new products, services, brand extensions, or technology inventions. It’s about imagining, mobilizing, and competing in new ways,” says Idris Mootee, author of DesignThinking for Strategic Innovation. Google and 3M are good examples of this model.
